Walgreens brand Baby Diapers Jumbo pack - free or almost free from June 29 to July 4
This is a bit complicated but very useful for those with babies. To pull this off, you need the following -
1. Walgreens July EasySaver booklet, typically found on a rack when you enter the store
2. Walgreens pharmacy $50 savings book – go to the pharmacy, ask about the prescription savings plan, act interested in the information provided, then collect a red & white booklet containing various store coupons. If you don’t get the booklet, ask for it. You do not have to buy the plan to get the booklet.
Steps to make the sale happen -
1. Buy 3 packages of Walgreens brand diapers jumbo package between June 29 and July 4, these are on sale for $5.99 each
2. Use the diapers coupon from the EasySaver catalog which will knock off $2.50 from each package (coupon says $5 off 2, but it discounts $2.50 for each pack)
3. Use the coupon from the pharmacy booklet to get an additional discount of $2 per pack
4. Your cash outgo at this point will be $1.49 ($5.99 - $2.50 - $2) per pack or $4.47 for 3 + tax.
5. Pay this at the cash register and collect the $5 Register Rewards coupon that spits out from the coupon printer, this is like cash back
6. Get 3 packs of diapers effectively free
7. Rinse & repeat for more free diapers (but don’t make it too blatant, make multiple visits at different times)
Things to remember -
1. Do not surrender the store coupons, ask the cashier to return them as they are re-usable
2. Do not use the Register Rewards coupon to pay for the next round of diaper purchases, otherwise the next $5 coupon will not print. Use it for any other purchase at Walgreens within its expiration date (there are quite a few “Free After Rebate” items in Walgreens this July where you can use these coupons)
3. Start shopping early, half the country can use free diapers

Update on eBay Cash Back Sale
A quick update on this crazy deal posted yesterday. Looks like it is still alive as of 7:30am EDT on Tue, June 17. Some smart eBay sellers have jacked up prices on gift cards e.g. I saw a few Walmart $500 cards being sold for $700 which means the seller makes around $150 after fees and the buy gets a discount of $50 on the face value. Some sellers are even selling currency, I have no idea how they can do it given that its illegal.
Anyway, the list of available items is shrinking fast, so jump in now. Also, check the cashback percentage, some people have reported that it drops to 10% only during checkout, or worse, disappears completely. So be very, very careful!

American Express Simply Cash Credit Card - change in cashback on gas from 5% to 3%
I had mentioned this card less than a month ago on my post on cashback cards. Well, here we are in June and American Express has announced it will drop the cashback percentage on gas purchases from 5% to 3% effective July 15.
Not a surprise given the higher discounts that card issuers will have to pay out with the ever increasing price of gas. I wonder if Penfed and Chase will follow suit.

My personal experience with Penfed has been very good when I got my 2/2 ARM (no longer sold) from them 3 yrs ago - there were no closing costs, rate lock of 90 days was available for no additional fee, closure happened within 30 days, etc. Everything was done via email with responses typically within 2-3 hrs.
Note that Penfed normally updates rates on its website around 1pm Mon-Fri whenever there are changes. So check frequently or sign up for their email updates.

Docker's Promotion at Sears from June 7 - June 15
Sears will run a promotion on Docker's products from June 7 - June 15. Spend $100 on Docker's, get a $75 Shell gas card and $10 Sears gift card via mail-in rebate.
While the promotion is pretty good on its own, here are 3 different ways to sweeten it -
1. Combine with a movie tickets promotion
Earlier, I posted about how to get ticket to see The Incredible Hulk movie when you buy gift cards at K-Mart (post link). Since Sears and K-Mart are owned by the same company, you can use K-Mart gift cards in Sears stores (not online though). Net result - for $100 spending, you get - 4 movie tickets, Docker's products worth $100, $75 Shell gas card and a $10 Sears gift card.
2. Combine with grocery shopping and credit card cashback
Kroger (and its affiliates like Ralphs) is running a stimulus check promotion that gives you a 10% bonus when you buy a $300, $600 or a $1200 gift card. This gets even better when you purchase the gift card with a 5% cashback card like the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Mastercard which gives back 5% on grocery store purchases. You will therefore spend $285 and get a $300 gift card.
Now, use this Kroger gift card to buy regular K-Mart gift cards (most Kroger stores now sell gift cards to non-competing stores), then use these K-Mart cards to buy the Hulk gift cards and then follow the steps in #1.
3. Using ThankYou Network points
If you already have a Citi card and have accumulated ThankYou network points, this combo may work for you.
Use 9000 points to get a $100 Land's End gift card which can be used at any Sears or K-Mart stores. Use it to kick off the chain mentioned above in #1.
Note of caution - Docker's has run similar promotions before and the crazy volume ensured that collecting the reward was a pain for most people. However, if you consider saving money and shopping as sports, you should enjoy this!

Buy a $50 K-Mart Gift Card, get 2 tickets to see "The Incredible Hulk" Movie
