This is either a mistake or a massive promotion run by Microsoft to popularize its new Live Search Cashback site. Obviously, this works if you actually want to buy something, so follow these steps.
1. Go to the Microsoft Live Search website at www.live.com
2. Search for whatever you want to buy in the search box
3. Look carefully at the search results – there should be a box at the top which are paid searches, with one of the links sporting a link to eBay and saying “get cashback” or something similar
4. Click on this link
5. You will now be taken to the eBay site
6. Click on whatever you need to buy but ensure it has a "Buy-It-Now” option via Paypal (anything else will not work)
7. Buy it, check out via Paypal – you should see cashback numbers on the transaction confirmation screens (don’t forget to take screenshots and pay via credit card only through Paypal)
8. Wait for a few minutes after completing your purchase, then check the My Messages section of eBay
9. You will see a “You have earned cash back” message
10. Follow the instructions in that message
11. Wait 60 days to get your cash back
And in the meanwhile, enjoy whatever you bought :-). Cash back is limited upto $250, max 3 transactions per account with each transaction completed within 60 minutes of clicking the search link the first time.
I bought a few hot things like the Nintendo Wii. Not that I actually need them, but these can be turned around and sold quickly locally for a neat profit.
