Page Plus Cellular has launched a new cell plan that offers unlimited talk, unlimited text and 20MB data – all for just $40 per month with no contract. Obviously, you have to provide your own phone. This service is available wherever Verizon Wireless offers prepaid coverage.
Note that handsets that work with AT&T or T-Mobile (they use GSM, Page Plus / Verizon use CDMA) will not work.
Here are some easy instructions -
1. Acquire a CDMA phone that can be used on the Verizon network. Currently, the cheapest new-phone option is to go to Target and buy the Samsung U350 "Smooth" Verizon pre-paid phone. It is under $20 both at Target and Walmart.
2. If you want to port an existing number, make sure you are out of contract with your current number provider. Then, call Page Plus at (800) 550-2436 and tell them you want to port your number. They will ask for your existing company's account #, pass code (depends on provider), and phone #. They will also ask for the ESN of the phone you want to use (the ESN of the phone in step 1, which is the same as the MEID on the packaging for the Samsung Smooth). For T-Mobile, it takes about 3 hrs to port.
3. While you're waiting, buy the $39.95 Unlimited Talk and Text card from Page Plus. Checkout as guest or register an account (you can't add your phone to your account yet until you have the service activated). You will get an activation/pin number.
4. Call Page Plus back at (800) 550-2436 after 3 hours and have your $39.95 activation/pin # from step 3.
5. Page Plus will have you do some things from the phone to activate it. Then, they will take your activation/pin # and add the unlimited to your account. You will get a $12 starting balance if you ported your number. Ask the CSR at the same time to block premium text messages so that you don’t pay for them.
That’s it!
