The First New England Federal Credit Union is offering a very nice 5.0% APY on a 5-month CD. Minimum deposit required is $10,000 and maximum is $50,000. Becoming a member is easy – you need to become a member of the Newington Friends of the Library association (if you do not qualify for the other options). And very conveniently, you can do so while signing up for the credit union membership. Once done, send in the library membership form along with your signature card. You can fund your credit union membership account ($10 required) through a credit card.

Once the share savings account has been opened, please call in and set up the CD as its not available online. All deposits upto $100k are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
